A 24-year-old man, Toheeb Quadri, was on Sunday found dead in a controversial circumstance at a residential building in Atoyo area of Sagamu, Ogun State.

The deceased, who is a generating set repairer, was found dead inside a generating house of one Kelechi (surname withheld). The Guardian gathered that Quadri might have gone to repair his customer’s generating set when the incident happened. The body of the deceased was later discovered by members of his family after a thorough search.

The owner of the house where the incident occurred was almost lynched by angry mob when he feigned ignorance about the incident. He was reported to have denied knowing the deceased and this aggravated the situation as the suspect’s house was vandalized by the angry mob, before he was handed over to the police.

The state Police Command’s spokesman, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident, saying that the circumstances surrounding the death of Quadri was questionable.

He disclosed that the case has been transferred to the homicide section at the Command’s Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, adding that the body of the deceased had been deposited for autopsy.

Meanwhile, two persons were confirmed dead while eight others were injured yesterday in an accident involving a white Toyota Hiace commercial bus and a multi-coloured Benz truck at area J3, along Ijebu Ode-Benin Expressway in Ogun State.

Spokesman of the State Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, who confirmed the incident, disclosed that the bus with registration number ENU 994 ZH, drove against the traffic and “in the process, one of its rear tyres busted and the bus rammed into the truck, which was driving on the right lane.”

According to Akinbiyi, “the accident involved a white 14-seater Toyota Hiace commercial bus and a multi-coloured Benz truck with registration number MUS 727 XX loaded with generating sets.

“The bus drove in direction prohibited by traffic laws, going through one way and in the process, rammed into the truck, which was driving on right lane. Seven males and one female were injured including the driver of the bus, while two males were dead,” he said.

Akinbiyi explained that both the dead and the injured were taken to Ronal Hospital, Ijebu-Ode while the two vehicles were towed to Ogbere Police Station.
