Buhari: I’ll return when doctors certify me fit

President Muhammadu Buhari has stressed that he will return to Nigeria only when he is certified fit by his doctors in London.
This is as the president will today meet with seven governors selected from the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF). The declaration by the president is contrary to a statement credited to the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha that Buhari will return to the country in two weeks’ time. Okorocha was among the four other governors who accompanied the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie- Oyegun, on Sunday, to meet with President Buhari in London where he is presently recuperating. Buhari spoke about his return from London in a letter to the Chairman of the African Union (AU) and President of Guinea, Alpha Conde. The president said he was making good progress regarding his health and will return to Nigeria as soon as his doctors certify him fit. His words: “Your Excellency will be pleased to hear that I am making good progress and as soon as doctors advise, I shall return to my duties and continue serving the Nigerian people who elected me and are daily praying for my recovery.”
The president, who wrote in response to a new assignment that has been given to him by the regional body to lead the campaign against corruption in Africa, also used the opportunity to thank the Guinean leader for organising a nationwide prayer session for his quick recovery. “I thank you for your kind and thoughtful action in organising nationwide prayers for my good health. It is a gesture that I will forever cherish and treasure,” Buhari told Conde.
The president also accepted his nomination as leader of the “2018 AU Theme on the Fight Against Corruption,” which came from African leaders at the 29th Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the AU in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on July 4, 2017. New Telegraph recalls that President Buhari, in a letter to the National Assembly before departing for London on May 7 for a follow- up medical, explained that his return from the medical trip will depend on the advice of his doctors. Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and wife of the president, Aisha, had also announced recently that the president will soon return to the country.
While Osinbajo confirmed that President Buhari was recuperating very fast and would soon return, Mrs. Buhari also said that God has answered the prayers of Nigerians as her husband was getting fine to return soon. Governors Okorocha, Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Tanko Al-Makura (Nasarawa) and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi had, on Sunday, met with the president.
